Cant get anything to work

I see settings for strobe, glow stick, etc, but there is no way to actually get these things to work! There seems to be a button hidden under the permanent ad, my only guess is that the ad hides the button that actually gets things to work. How dumb is that?! So, the app is useless on my iPhone 5, deleting.
